Aim Higher, Fly Supersonic

Fleet

Concorde fleet

Despite the world-wide fame of Concorde, there were only 20 aircraft ever built. The first two, 001 and 002, were prototypes to test the concept of supersonic commercial travel. They are visibly different from production models, principally with a nose visor that only had two small, glass panels  and also a shortened stubby tail.

The next four variants, 101, 102, 201 and 202, were pre-production models which had several key modifications, mainly the new nose visor and improved cockpit avionics.

Finally, 14 production models, 203-216, were split equally between the two operators, BA and Air France, who each took seven aircraft for their fleets.

A total of 18 out of the 20 models still survive following the tragic crash in 2000 of airframe 203 in Paris. Airframe 211 has also effectively gone after being largely dismantled. Of note, following retirement in 2003, the fleet of 18 can be found in six countries on two main continents:

UK - 7: 002 (Yeovilton), 101 (Duxford), 202 (Brooklands), 204 (Manchester), 206 (Scotland), 208 (London Heathrow), 216 (Filton, Bristol)

France – 6: 001, 102, 213 and 215 in Paris (3 locations), 201 and 209 in Toulouse

USA – 3: 210 (New York), 205 (Washington DC), 214 (Seattle)

Germany - 1: 207 (Sinsheim)

Barbados – 1: 212
